Compression springs are open-coil helical springs and they’re called compression springs because they’re constructed to oppose any compression along the axis. When a load is put on the springs it decreases the length of the spring, making it short and pushes the spring against the load and getting to the normal spring length. Also, when the load force is removed the compression spring returns to its original length.
